ROLE:
CREATIVE CODING
EXPERIMENTING

What started as an exploration of the relationship of computer generated randomness and design grew into an experimental typeface I have titled Polytype. The goal became to create a program that would generate random shapes that could then be identified as having abstract relationships to letterforms.

The final program created an 8x8 grid and then randomly generated 10 connected points on the intersections of that grid, they could overlap and intersect at any angle. These points created a series of polygons that were sorted through by hand and interpreted as letterforms

The resulting letterforms were further experimented with on a series of layouts and graphic applications.
